Kaplan-Meier analysis of the impact of ALCAM expression in 104 primary tumors (a-d) and 16 nodal metastases (e, f) on 5-year survival in melanoma patients. Increased ALCAM expression (IRS) in the primary tumor strongly correlated with shorter CSOS (a) and DFS (b); analogous associations with shorter CSOS (c) and DFS (d) were observed for increased percentage of ALCAM-(+) cells in the primary tumor. Survival analysis of 16 cases of nodal metastases revealed a paradoxical trend relating decreased ALCAM expression (IRS) in melanoma metastases with shorter CSOS (e), however, there was no association with DFS (f)
