Treatment

 

Induction Remission:

Until 1985

TAD protocol:

- Thioguanine 100 mg/m2 orally every 12 hours for 7 days

- Cytarabine 100 mg/m2/d iv for 7 days

- Doxorubicin 30 mg/m2/d iv for 3 days

After 1985

7 + 3 protocol:

- Cytarabine 200 mg/m2/d iv for 7 days

- Daunorubicin 45 mg/m2/d or doxorubicin 30 mg/m2 iv for 3 days

Residual leukemia

5 + 2 protocol:

- Cytarabine 200 mg/m2/d iv for 5 days

- Daunorubicin 45 mg/m2/d or doxorubicin 30 mg/m2/d iv for 2 days

 

Post-remission treatment:

Until 1985

12 maintenance cycles of TAD

1986 to 1992

4 courses:

- Cytarabine 400 mg/m2/d iv for 3 days

- Doxorubicin 30 mg/m2/d iv for 3 days

1993 to 1998

2-4 courses:

- High-dose cytarabine 1 g/m2 iv every 12 hours for 4 days

- Doxorubicin 30 mg/m2/d iv for 3 days

After 1999

2-4 courses:

- High-dose cytarabine 3 g/m2 iv every 12 hours on days 1, 3 and 5
