Irregular shape and occasional enlargement of islets

Multiple β-cells with an enlarged and hyperchromatic nucleus and abundant clear cytoplasm

Increased number of islets

Islets with normal spatial distribution of the various cell types

Lobulated islet structure

No proliferative activity of endocrine cells

Macronucleoli in β-cells
